There are plenty of Motorcycle & Car Rental companies In Kota Kinabalu (KK) that you can find online but almost 80% of them are not registered. While they are often cheaper but it comes with a significant risk.
Honestly, accidents do happen and they also seem to happen when you least expect it. This is why I recommend that you rent a vehicle from a registered company to avoid the hassle with the local police and insurance claims (if you need to).

Motorcycle / Scooter is a great mode of transportation moving around Kota Kinabalu and beyond. You can easily avoid rush hour traffic, save on fuel, and enjoy scenic roads in Sabah.
I have personally rented from GoGoSabah a few times and they provide a great service at an affordable rates for 150CC and below motorcycles/scooters.
GogoSabah is a well-established tour and travels tourism agency in Sabah that opened in 2009 and since has been highly reliable and a go-to for tourists.

Requirements
- Valid License
- Deposit of RM 200 per bike (refundable)
- Age 21 and Above.
Note: Raincoat and Mobile Phone/GPS holder are not provided. If you’re renting a Kapcai/Scooter, I would recommend that you get a cheap handlebar bag at Shopee for navigation.

For pick-up/drop-off points at Hotels in KK, you will need to pay additional RM 5 per way and RM 15 for KK Airport.

I’ve been going to Kota Kinabalu the umpteenth time now and I usually rent from a friend (Mr Maslan) who provides exceptional service.
Not only that his rates are affordable, he always willing to assist his customer whenever needed especially if you are arriving KK in midnight.
Car rental Requirements
The requirements to book a car from GogoSabah are as follows:
- A passport / NRIC copy of the driver
- A copy of your driver’s license
- To rent a car, you must be 21 years of age and above
- The minimum rental duration is 24 hours
Summary
If I would have to pick the most beautiful state in Malaysia, Sabah would be my choice because it has so much to offer from the scenic landscape, spectacular mountains, blue beaches, surreal sunset, rich culture, friendliest people, curvy roads, tall waterfalls, national parks and many more!
Getting a service from trusted company is what you should look for to avoid any hassles or possible disruption of your trip. Don’t forget to get a travel insurance while you travel.
