Places To Visit In Kota Belud: Attractions & Activities
This is set at the beautiful hillside of Kota Belud, Sabah which is about 70+ KM from Kota Kinabalu.
Honestly, the photos don’t do justice to the beauty of this place and if you’re a nature lover, this place should be on your list!
Kota Belud Ecotourism Destinations Attractions
There are many places you can camp or look up for homestay.
All the Places I’ve recommended below provides spots for camping (tent available for rental), homestay, hut, cafeteria, shower, toilets and other basic facilities.
You will just need to contact the service provider and make your arrangement. Please note the places can be crowded during weekends and public holidays.
Another tip for non-Sabahan, you can usually see Mount Kinabalu clearly from 0500-0800 AM. If you’re not staying overnight, you’ll need to drive/ride early to avoid being dissapointed!

Kota Belud Attractions
Lasau Podi (Mountains view)
The Lasau Podi (map) is an excellent location for stargazing (If you stay camp overnight) and you can enjoy the scenic view of Mount Kinabalu from here. The road is about 95% paved and if my scooter can make it, you can too!
Tamu Market
To know the culture and lifestyle of locals, the best way is to visit their market. Tamu (means “Meeting”) is a traditional open-air market of Sabah. If you’re up for it, read here for more information.
Kawa Kawa River Cruise
The enchanting Kawa Kawa river cruise invites you to experience Sabah’s wildlife along Tempasuk River where you might encounter birds and primates, such as the Proboscis Monkey, long-tailed macaques, the rare silver languar, water buffaloes, river otters, and hornbills during the day. Mantanani Island
Mantanani Island, shaped-like a knife, has a beach that stretches up to 2.500 metres. The fact, that this thin island has never been commercialized, secures its hidden secrets. Read more here.

Hiking Mt Nopungguk & Mt Nungkok
If you’re looking for mountains to hike especially to have different views of the majestic Mount Kinabalu, you can consider mt nungkok and nopungguk. More information can be found here.
Standing three times lower than Mount Kinabalu, Mount Nungkok is often mistaken as Mount Kinabalu during a misty day.
Food At Kota Belud Town
You must try the famous local Mee Sup (Noodle soup) Kota Belud. You can find them easily in the town area.
