How To Install App (APK) On Fire TV Stick Using Downloader
In this guide, you can learn how to install an app (APK) outside of Amazon Store into your Fire TV stick.
This is usually needed when an app is not available in the Amazon store and/or the app is region-restricted. (Not available in your country).
What Is An APK?
APK stands for Android Application Package and is the file format that Android uses to distribute and install apps.
What System Is The Fire TV Stick Running On?
Fire OS is the operating system that runs Amazon’s Fire TV Stick and tablets. Fire OS is based on Android, so if your app runs on Android, it can run on Amazon’s Fire devices too.
How Do I Install Third-Party Apps on Amazon Fire TV Stick?

To install any apps manually (outside of the Amazon store) on Fire Stick TV, you will first need to install a Downloader app. To do so, follow the instructions below:
Installing Downloader App into Fire TV Stick
From your Fire Stick TV, go to the menu and select Settings.

Select My Fire TV

Choose Developer Options

Select Apps from Unknown Sources

Select Turn On
Please note switching on apps from unknown sources is not needed to install Downloader app.
However, to install any third-party app(APK), this option needs to be enabled.

Now, Return to the home screen and hover over the Search icon

Type in Downloader

Select the Downloader app

Choose on Download

Select Open

Choose Allow when you see the permission warning

When you see the Quick Start Guide, Select OK

Downloading App Into Fire TV Stick Using Downloader App
That’s it! You can now download any third-party app(s) into your Fire Stick TV.
All you need to do is type in the URL (link) of the APK file and click on Go.
Note: If you don’t know how to find app URL (link), read further below.

It will then download the APK file

Once the download is complete, you can then Install the APK file and use it on your Fire TV Stick.

How To Download APK File From Google Play Store Into Fire TV Stick?
Go to google.com and in the search engine, type in the [app name] play store.
In this example, I want to download BBC iPlayer app on my Fire TV Stick Device and I would type BBC iPlayer play store and hit enter.
When you see the search result, look up for the link play.google.com > store > apps and click on it.

Now copy the app link from the address bar.

Next, Go to APK downloader site and paste the link that you’ve copied earlier into the white box and click on Generate Download Link.

Now, right-click on the click here to download XXXX(Name of the app) and choose the copy link address.

You can then paste it in a notepad so you can view the APK file link as per the example below.
https://storage.evozi.com/apk/dl/16/10/03/bbc.iplayer.android_xxxxxxx.apk
Finally, type in the link into the Downloader app so you can download the app into your Fire TV Stick. Don’t forget to check our other tutorials.
